Trial balloon

Another fun visual, a trial balloon refers to a tentative measure taken or statement made to see how a new policy will be received. Somewhat similar to another favorite bit of jargon, dogfooding, the balloon is more of an external low stakes measure to get a pulse on where you stand with your new ideas, products, policies etc.

Be careful not to send too many balloons out there at the same however, it could make getting an 'eagle-eyed view' of your 'North Star' tricky.
