Grand Designs (1999 – )

Grand Designs while often a soothing and beautiful document of custom home builds, is often a frustrating exercise in bearing witness to the inherent mess of human emotions, impulses and creative desires.

No matter how many people warn the episode's star about the frailty of their home design, no matter how often the hosts remind them the importance of balancing realism with open ended vision — they always take their own path and learn their own lessons.

We consider this a core Practica show for a few reasons: stunning design, an honest look into the creative process, an even more honest look into how humans engage with themselves and the journey of building something true to personal desire. All of which are things love to dig into with our personal work and in client work.
