There's no way around it, NYC executives love The Hamptons. At the end of the day, at least for certain teams, it is more important to honor what it is that they see as the best forum for a retreat as opposed to your preferences. While our experiences, taste and intuition are obviously of immense value — part of our responsibility is making the venue and temporal sacrifice worthwhile regardless.
If you had asked for a recommended offsite location on The Hamptons as recently as five years ago, we would have enthusiastically recommended the classic Gurney's of Montauk. Due to cultural shifts, COVID, and the natural flow of the hospitality industry, a lot has changed since then. At least from our perspective, executive preference has shifted from iconic resorts to boutique offerings, privacy has become even more of a priority and frankly, Gurney's' previously spotless service record is becomingly increasingly shaky.
The Reform Club on the other hand is wellness focused (trendy sure but also a huge priority for a specific crowd), is right in the (certainly more mature and refined than Montauk) Amagansett Square and has full buyout flexibility in a way Gurney's couldn't reasonably accommodate. This is essentially a stunning, centrally located but private Airbnb with a full, well trained staff. Perfect.
